Berkshires - Any Foliage Yet?

Hello, New Englanders. We're heading off for a week in the Berkshires and the suspense is killing me -- are the leaves changing yet? What if we head up to southern Vermont? Thanks for any updates.

Good question. I am heading to southern Vermont shortly. I will probably be too early (Sept 27-28) for peak.

Here is an interesting forecast site: http://www.foliage-vermont.com/

Try out the little may. Press play/pause and you can use the slidebar too. Looks like Oct 5-10 will be at peak all over the state.

Some early sugar maples are starting to turn, so you see a few specks of color here or there. For the most part everything is still green though. Nights are getting much cooler, so things will start to turn.

Next will be early color in the Berkshires.

Thanks! Very cool links. I hope to see at least a few colorful maples.

I am driving from New Haven to take a look a the Green Mountain NF in southern Vermont. But which route:

1) New Haven- Brattleboro- Bennington- Manchester- East Jamaica- Wilimington- Brattleboro

or

2) New Haven- Pownal- Bennington, etc.

The second option misses the section of VT route 9 between Wilmington and Bennington. I would hate to skip it and find that it would have been the most scenic part of the drive.
