Berkeley Springs
Will be spending a weekend in Berkeley Springs in mid - September. Looking for:
1. Restaurants that serve authentic regional cuisine. 2. Art museums, galleries, shops selling outsider art. 3. Scenery that doesn't require hours of hiking. 4. Local country music. 5. Historic sites other than war related sites. 6. Opinions on the Potomac Eagle Train Tour. 7. Opinions on Blue Ridge Parkway vs. Highland Scenic Highway. Any sharing will be appreciated. JZ |
The Potomac Eagle runs along a basically abandoned freight line next to the Potomac, or at least near it. At the right time of year you are likely to see a few eagles. Can certainly be interesting as an outing.
I'm not exactly sure what you would consider "regional" cuisine that isn't also regional in a lot of different areas of the South. |
Thanks, Dukey. Let's say authentic southern cuisine in an atmosphere not too gussied up.

Have you checked out the Berkeley Springs web page? Lots of information on it concerning history and shops.
www.berkerleysprings.com I don't know of any restaurants with southern food, but IMHO the best in town is Tari's Cafe. Also, if you like fudge, get some at the Factory Antique Mall. |

That's useful information. Thank you all around.
