I just wanted to know if it's a "neat" place....artsy, average, boring, redneck, good place to go visit a friend? hahaha...

Hi zilphiacat. Benicia is a small city which has about 28,000 residents.

It doesn't have a movie theater or really anywhere to shop except for antique stores. There are glass studios.

It is sort of a family type place, parents have their kids in various sports.

Here is the website of the Benicia Chamber of Commerce.

Benicia has Fwy 780 going through it. South of 780 is "old town" where the downtown is located. It is along the Carquinez Strait. North of 780 is all the subdivisions.

East of downtown is the Benicia Industrial Park (which was once the historical Benicia Arsenal). It has a lot of artist in the BIP.

If I had a friend there I would visit to see my friend. I wouldn't go for the excitment, lol, as it isn't in my opinion an exciting place.

About fifteen minutes west of Benicia is Vallejo which has the Vallejo/SF ferry. You can take the ferry which is an hour long trip to SF which is fun. Or you can drive to the BART Pleasant Hill Station (on the other side of the Carquinez Straight and south a bit on 680 and take BART into SF, it is about a 45 minute trip.

Napa Valley can be visited.

I lived there for decades. Quite frankly is was a lot more fun a long time ago, it got boring as the houses north of 780 were built and the population increased.

Artsy, yes. Average, don't know how to answer that. Not average I guess. Boring, in a way but not for a few days. Redneck, not basically. A good place to visit a friend, sure.

You're perfect, Love. Thank you. That was (more or less my impression of the area) Seems very close to alot of cool things. Just wanted a general feel. My friend lives on W. K street a couple blocks from the bay. Is an old friend of friends, a photographer, musician, with whom I wish I were wishing I could take up on an invite. That area has always called out to me (well, general area) and well...

Whatever. :)

Hi zelphiacat, a house on West K is a lot more fun then a house in the "new section"..north of the freeway. West K is right downtown! And your friend sounds like a fun and interesting person.

I hope you can accept the invitation when it works out for you. Hugs and good wishes sent your way.
