Bellingham-->Seattle Amtrak to Disneyland
 

My son lives in Bellingham and is taking his family to Disneyland.
Where could he park a car near King Street station for 11 days? They could stay at a hotel (inexpensive) and leave the car there if there is one available. Any suggestions?

Don't know of any long-term (cheap) car parks in downtown Seattle that might work. They could take the train from Bellingham but that would require an overnight in Seattle to connect to the Starlight, or they could leave the car at the Everett station and take the commuter train early in the morning to King St then switch to the Starlight there; unfortunately coming back there would also need to be an overnight in Seattle before the first train to Everett/Bellingham in the morning. A bit confusing all considered. The King Street Center, which Amtrak says to use, costs $20 a day; a bit steep for 11 days. I'd be inclined to take the train down from B'ham in the evening, spend the night in Seattle, then the morning train to LA; coming back, the reverse. Leave the car safe at home.

I feel fairly certain to say there are no inexpensive hotels in the downtown area or ones that will give you free parking. You'd need to look in the outskirts and somehow shuttle or taxi in to the train station.

Why not come down by bus from Bellingham? It's only an hour, right? Then taxi to train station from bus station shouldn't be too much money.

Or, why not fly? Using Amtrack from Bellingham sounds like a hassle that may not be worth it. Is the idea that the children want a train ride? If so, how about train one way and plane the other?

Thank you for the replies so far. My son took the kids to Disneyland last year this way. They all loved the train ride and want to do it again. Last year a condo of a family member was available for spending the night and leaving a car. Not so, this year.

Another problem with the train is that the arrival can be delayed. They arrived back in Seattle last year at 5:00 am!

A train from Bellingham is horribly expensive. I don't know if he has checked into a bus.

If $30 for the train from B'ham to Seattle (then the Starlight from there) is horribly expensive, how will they deal with Disneyland?

Is that family member still living in Seattle? Many neighborhoods have at least one side of the street that is unmonitored free parking, they could leave the car by the relative's place?
