Bellagio Art Gallery - Las Vegas
The art gallery at the Bellagio is scheduled to close as of 11pm Sunday, May 28. If you are going to be anywhere in the vicinity of Las Vegas before then, I highly recommend that you visit before the 'lionization' of the Mirage Resorts begins.

Why is it closing?
|
Probably because Wynn charges more admission than some of the best museums in the world!
|
Closing because the art collection is being sold at auction!! Won't be viewable as a collection again unless some source would buy the whole thing...seems unlikely.

xxx:

Where have you been? Steve Wynn does NOT own the Bellagio any more. In fact Steve doesn't own any hotel/casino at this time.

Steve Wynn sold all of his properties to MGM. MGM is closing the art gallery and selling most of the paintings to pay off some of the debt acquired by the purchase. Don't be surprised if there are not some more cost cutting measures coming along at the Bellagio, Mirage, etc.

Steve, we are going to miss you. Actually he has something up his sleeve so I think that he will be back in the Las Vegas scene in the near future. He didn't walk away broke from the MGM deal.

LVLarry: Steve Wynn is back at it once again, having bought the Desert Inn. Rumor has it that part of the Bellagio's art collection that Wynn himself owns will find its way to the Desert Inn once Wynn brings that property up to his lofty standars.
|
LVLarry:
Steve Wynn kept the art collection for himself as part of his deal with Kerkorian. MGM shareholders were not pleased.
Frank may be right about DI.
|
You are correct about Steve Wynn and the Desert Inn. I just read about it earlier today. I am glad to see that he is back in town.

I may be mistaken but I read where Steve only kept a small part of the art collection and that MGM got the lion's ( no pun intended ) share. It is my inderstanding that MGM is selling their part of the collection to reduce the debt.
