Belevedere or Blakely

Staying in New York 09/30/06 for 4 nights and can't decide between these 2 hotels. The price is about the same $299 although The Belevedere includes breakfast. Will be doing a broadway show, grayline tour and have a 2 day all loop double decker tour with gray line.I am with my 11 year old son. Thanks

The Blakely, no contest. The Belvedere has historically been a nice budget hotel, but got so popular, has raised it rates. The Blakely is a much nicer hotel and has suites. Assuming you're getting a suite, you can have breakfast in. OR, there are plenty of places for breakfast and fun to try a different one each day.

I was tempted a few times to stay at The Belvedere when it had eased over the $100 mark. It's nothing special but OK. But for $299 a night? No way. I don't know the Blakely, but I'd book it with confidence on mclaurie's advice.

Neopolitan, the Blakely is the old Gorham, much loved here. It's across from City Center. ;)

Ah, I missed that transition. The Gorham was a nice hotel; I assume it's even nicer if it has been redone. Definitely better than the Belvedere!
