Been to WHISTLER RESORT in BC, Canada ??
 

Any one been here - going in Sept. Anything that is a "must see" or "must do". How long would you stay?
Things to do in the area??

I live in B.C. and have been to whistler a couple of times. Alot depends on whether you are going for the skiing or not. It can be pricey there not a whole lot to do other than winter sports. Squamish is near by but there isn't much there either. I would spend time in Vancouver personally. And go to whistler for as much skiing as you can handle. If you are going in September(?) there probably will be zero snow. Hope this helps

We are going to Victoria in Sept. for a meeting. Have been before. Would like to take a few extra days and was considering Whistler for the scenery and perhaps hiking. Shaney didn't sound too keen on this. Other ideas please? I didn't want to spend all our extra time in a big cith like Vancouver (but might like to spend a day there). Thanks for suggestions, Andrea

I have been to Whistler several times for winter skiing and it's fabulous. Although the village is expensive (you might be saved going in off-season), the hiking is supposed to be great. Even if you are not the athletic type, a gondola runs in the summer to take you up the mountain, where the views are gorgeous. Take a camera! Also, I have heard that there is glacier skiing during the summer- you may want to call Whistler for info (the Resort Association number from my Yellow Pages is 604-664-5625, or 1-800-944-7853) Hope this helps!

I love Whistler! My husband and I are going this summer. I have been several times in the summer and love the summer activities. There is golf, shopping in the Village. You can rent moutain bikes, the lift is open to 7th Heaven and you can purchase a lift ticket and ride up and down. The views are spectacular. There is hiking and relaxing! I love the area even in the summer! I can't wait to get back - it is beautiful!

It is beautiful but when driving up the mountain keep your eyes on the road...it is very dangerous.

Hi, just got back actually a few hours ago from Whistler.
I live about 2 1/2 hours away and just love Whistler. We
go in the winter to ski and in the summer to hike, party, etc.
I have always had a wonderful time in Whistler, the resteraunts, nite life, skiing, hiking, camping, etc. etc. are
superb. For the most part, people are super friendly, I am
in my early twenties and have been up there with friends
before with no accomadations and by the end of the day
will have many offers from friendly people to crash at their
place. Last summer we booked a very nice hotel for $99.
It had one bedroom with a queen sized bed, a full kitchen
and a huge living room with 3 pull out couches, we could
have slept 8 people! It is more expensive in the winter time which is peak season. You should have great weather in September and have a wide variety of things to do, no matter what your preferences are. Its very easy to
get around as most things are concentrated in the village
and are within 5-10 min. walking distances to most clubs
resteraunts, hotels and even the gondolas leave from the
village, so you can get around very easily without a car. Most of the younger generation don't think twice about hitch hiking, you'll see everyone from the very rich to young, hippy like , multi-hair colored, multiple piercing types. I'm positive you'll have a smashing time and if you

Skip Whistler in September and take a BC Ferry to the Gulf Islands which are half way between Vancouver and Victoria. Wonderful inns, great little restaurants, beautiful shell beaches, fabulous kayaking. Paradise.

I've been to Whistler 3 times now, and all of them in September so I consider myself I bit of an expert, although the area is changing fast. The weather can range from being very warm to cool (especially if it is raining). Some things to do there are to swim or rent some kayaks on the lake, hike, bike, golf, play some tennis and rollerblade. They have some great paved paths to bike and rollerblade on that wind throughout the area. I would recommend you not stay at the Whistler Resort though since it isn't very convenient. You are better off renting a condo or hotel room in the village that way you can walk from your accommodations to the village and back. They have many wonderful restaurants there as well as lots of shopping. They also have street entertainers such as clowns and jugglers that wander around to entertain the public for free. If you go the 2nd week of September, you may catch the Vancouver Canucks training camp. If you are interested in hockey at all, it is interesting to see the players wandering around and playing down at the local arena. If you have anymore questions, e-mail me. Hope this helps

We will be in vancouver in Aug. after a week long cruise with our 2 teens. We would like to spend 2 days at Whistler and 2 days in Victoria after the cruise. Recomendations of where to stay????? We need two rooms or a bigish suite.Good location would be important.

Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains have the best skiing anywhere in N. America. Even intermediate skiiers can ski the bowls and feel like you're on the moon - it's truly phenomenal. The Aspens is a ski-in/ski-out on Whistler which was perfect - all suites. Bars were fun - especially Apres Ski - the daily happy hour. Enjoy!

We were in Whistler in late August a couple of years ago and loved it. We love the outdoors and thought it was one of the loveliest valleys we have ever seen. We went biking around the valley on the flat paved trail for easy sightseeing. We rode the ski lift up and mountain biked down with a guide (only for those who love the thrill--no time to enjoy the view). We went river rafting--very serene that late in the year. Some people went on a jet boat ride up the river. Some others took a train ride further up into the mountains and saw lots of wildlife--wish we had known about it. The golfers in our group said the courses were beautiful. I also just liked the village atmosphere.

In contrast, I thought Vancouver was nice for a day--visit Stanley Park and the waterfront, eat at a nice restaurant, etc. But then I was ready to move on out of town.

I'm looking forward to going back and seeing Victoria. I don't know anyone who has gone there who was disappointed.

Message for CARESSE - you info was really helpful - i'm early twenties too and going to Whistler for the winter season. Planning on snowboarding etc, but also socialising and meeting people. To fund this I need a job - PLAN - email the best nightlife/bars etc in Whistler to get a job - where does everyone hand out????????
