Beekman Arms? Yea or Nay?
 

We are staying at the Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck in Mid October. We have reservations for a Junior Suite in the "Germond House". Anyone familiar with this property? Nice? Thanks so much!

Both the Beekman Arms and the Germond House are beautiful, authentis Early American structures from the 18th Century, Beekman Arms early 1700s and Gernond House late 1700s. Both have been beautifully restored. Both have enticing histories which you will enjoy while you are there. The Germond House was once a speakeasy. The Beekman Arms was used by our soldiers during the Revolutionary War. Have dinner at the Beekman Arms. The various dinning rooms are wonderfully decorated in authentic Early American furniture and artifacts . The food is very well prepared and served. If you are an Early American Buff (we are), you will love your stay.<BR>Walk the little village of Rhinebeck. It is on the National Registry of Historical Places. The town is full of restored 18th Century buildings. There are some neat shops and cafes. We love this area.

Never stayed there but have eaten in the resturant and also went to a wedding there. It is a very beautiful place with lots of history as the last poster said and the food was excellent.<BR><BR>The town is very "quaint" and there are several things to do in the area like the areodrome and the Vanderbilt and Roosevelt Mansions in Hyde Park (a short drive away). <BR><BR>Additionally for another dinner treat you might want to make reservations at the Culinary Institue of America in Hyde Park. Have fun.

And, make sure you have breakfast and/or lunch at Blondie's in Rhinebeck!

Hi J,<BR>Last Feb my husband and I stayed at the Beekman. We always try to stay in the main house, on the top floor, away from the stairs! (noisy uncarpeted stairs:)<BR>but the hotel is still very very nice. And the pub for an afternoon drink and sitting in front of the roaring fire before you go across the street to Le Petit Bistro for an excellent dinner. <BR>We have also stayed at Delamater House(Germond) and that was also quite nice. Our room had two canopied double beds, a big fireplace and a large and modern bathroom and dressing area.<BR>They have a decanter of sherry and two little glasses for you to enjoy by the fire.<BR>Go to the Rhinebeck Aerodrome, apple picking, to Millbrook Vineyards and bring home some wine, listen to Howard and have breakfast at Blondies:)and have a picnic on the grounds of the Vanderbilt Estate.<BR>Have a great time!

Joe, Karen, Howard, and Scarlett - <BR><BR>Thanks so much for your time and advice. My husband and I always try to travel to the Rhinebeck area every fall. He is originally from Dover Plains, so we are fairly familiar with the area. We have never stayed before at the Beekman Arms. We are bringing my parents on the trip, and we wanted to find a property that would "knock their socks off". It is my parents first trip to the east coast, and this is one of the stops.
