Bed & Breakfast recommendations central Oregon coast and Long Beach WA
 

Does anyone have recommendations for nice reasonably priced B & Bs along the Oregon Coast (Yachats and north) and.or the Long Beach peninsula area S. Washington? On the beach or great view, under $140 night, peaceful, romantic, etc. Also, great restaurants for dinner. Thanks.

I suggest Slyvia Beach outside of Newport, OR. Rates are reasonable and the place is great. Each room is based on a different author. The Edgar Allan Poe room has a pendelem (sp) above the bed. There is Dr. Suess, Agatha Christie, Jane Austen and many more. Very cool place with a great restaurant. Also mulled wine in the common room when it's chilly

Mary, check out the LB visitors bureau at http://www.funbeach.com for accommodation in the Long Beach/Ilwaco area. We've stayed at a couple of places listed in their B&B listings, the most interesting of which (no view, though) was the Inn at Ilwaco, located in a former church. Ilwaco is a good destination because it offers some of the lighthouse/big rocks/crashing surf scenery more typical of the central/southern Oregon coast, along with the beach and lagoon scenery of the Long Beach peninsula, all with far fewer tourists than farther south. Long Beach itself is fun in a salt-water taffy sort of way. <BR> <BR>For dining in the LB area, two places stand out: the Shoalwater restaurant in the historic Shelburne Inn in Long Beach, and the Ark at Nahcotta, both of which are (nationally) very well known places with great and interesting food, the Ark being located on the bay side of the peninsula overlooking Willapa Bay. Up the road from the Ark is the historic and very picturesque village of Oysterville, well worth a detour.

Don't listen to that person Pam above. She is one of the owners of the Seaquest B&B and posts here all the time only about that B&B saying it's great. It's anything but great. The owners are the rudest, most sullen B&B hosts on the west coast. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you enjoy a ruined vacation like we had once we stayed in that horrid place.
