Bed & Breakfast

Are you supposed to tip the owners of a bed & breakfast?

rb_travelerxATyahoo Aug 5th, 2004 07:35 AM

It's my understanding you aren't expected to tip owners of businesses, but I do if I think the service given is above & beyond normal. They can always give the money to charity if they don't want it.

Speaking of tips, here's one; something from the "Post a New Message screen:

"Make your message easy to find: Give it a clear, identifying title"

"Bed & Breakfast" really doesn't describe your question very well.

No, I've never tipped the owners of a B&B.

Yes - if you're the kind of person who tips your car rental agency, hotel, or apt. rental agency. Why not? It's your money.

Oh, I thought my title was all right.

rb_travelerxATyahoo Aug 5th, 2004 08:26 AM

I thought vague .. could have been ANY question about ANY B&B. How about:

"Tipping at B&Bs?"

I seldom start a thread, but try to keep title as short yet descriptive as possible. Don't know which is worse, one like "hotel" or a really long one like "URGENT! We are considering hotel x and hotel y but aren't sure about how close either is to the airport - help us please" (yup, and exaggeration, but not TOO far off).
