Beaverton to PDX, How Long?

Need to catch a flight from Beaverton to the airport and was just wondering how much time to leave to get to the airport on a Friday (Dec 1)? Course ends at 5 pm.

Maps show it to be about a 35 minute drive, but I just wanted to get local/experienced confirmation (accuracy, with traffic etc.). Thx for any replies.

Enjoy-la!

From where in Beaverton? I would allow a good hour, just because on Friday afternoons especially, the highways get clogged.

Thx a mint for the reply, mms!

Not sure where in Beaverton it is - SW Nimbus Avenue - so I've left 2 hours to get to the airport just to be safe. (=

Enjoy-la!

Ok, I know exactly where you will be. Allowing 2 hours is a good idea. Listen to the traffic report that afternoon as well, because from where you will be, there are 2 easy ways you could go. You will basically be right off of HWY 217, so you could go north on 217, then east on HWY 26 towards Portland, then to HWY 84, to I-205 to the airport. The other way would be to go south on 217 and connect with southbound I-5 for a bit, then connect to I-205 and head straight to the airport. Both ways can get snarled, especially if there is an accident, so if you check the traffic first, that might make a decision for you.

Thx for the suggestions mms!

Won't have a car so I may be at the mercy of a cabbie...but I've also noticed a TriMetMax link off the PDX website so I will investigate whether that is a more cost & time efficient way to go (and just catch a cab to the stop in Beaverton).

Enjoy-la!

Definitely catch MAX if you can! Either cab it to a stop, or see if someone can give you a ride...but yes, that would be much easier than dealing with a car and traffic on a Friday afternoon. I hope you get some time to enjoy our area:)

Yeah, check out Trimet.org - use the trip planner. You can probably catch a bus from Nimbus to the Beaverton Transit Center, where you would pick up the MAX red line train to the airport. You can also see the estimated travel time - probably a bit over an hour. I'm fairly sure you could get to PDX from Nimbus in under 2 hrs easily via bus and train. A cab stuck in traffic on I-5 may not be much faster.

You mentioned cost-efficient. And that's a no question. A couple bucks for MAX and $20+ likely for a cab ride.

Have the cabbie take you to the Sunset Transit center and take the "RED" MAX train, not "BLUE". It will take you all the way to the airport. It will take about an hour with stops in between. Only $2.00!

Not sure what hotel you are staying at, but I would sure ask if anyone happpens to be headed toward the Max station. I have found that most of the Beaverton area hotels are extremely helpful. If they give you a ride, be sure and tip good!

I know one person who can make it by broom in a very short period with time to eat at 3 different places... :-"
