Beauty and the Beast
Has anyone on this forum seen this? Is it good? I'm new to theater-going and am not sure what to expect.

What is appropriate to wear to the theatre? I'll be going on a Saturday night.

I have tickets for the Main Mezz (balcony?) 3rd row center stage. Are these OK?

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that it's the New York production (not sure if it plays anywhere else).

Lois:
I took my family to this 6 months ago in New York. This is a wonderful nights entertainment and is great for adults and children alike. The production is 2.5 hours with an intermission. The dress is flexible as there will be in all types of dress, from suits to casual. This theater is relatively small and I'm sure that your seats will be fine. I've seen multiple Braodway shows and put this one in my top 10.

It's a wonderful show - very funny, with a great set and many songs that you will know. It's as fun for adults as it is for kids. I've seen it twice! The last time I saw it I was in the mezzanine off to the side. We saw everything fine from there.

You can wear anything from jeans to a cocktail dress and still fit in. Most NYers wear smart-casual clothing or a suit (think office wear) while out-of towners wear a wide range of clothing...some go all out with sparkly outfits and others go the sneakers and jeans route. So you can get away with just about anything. I guess it depends a lot on what you are doing beforehand or afterward. Keep in mind that it can often be chilly in those big old theaters.

It's a wonderful show! Not sure when you're planning your trip to NYC but if you don't already have theater tickets, you may be shut out. It is very popular (as are The Producers, Movin' Out, Dance of the Vampires, Hairspray, Lion King and others). I'd suggest you get your tickets right away if you're interested. If you don't see what you want, try ebay.com and you may get good tickets for equal or less than ticketmaster prices. It's a very good family show. We went to NYC on a spur of the moment trip last month (husband's work) and got good Orchestra seats on ebay within 4 days of the performance. Good Luck.

Stupid me...just realized you SAID you already have your tickets....you'll be very pleased!!

I agree with everybody here re. dress and show. My ten-year old was totally mesmerized. Your seats sound like the ones we had, great view, however, not a whole lot of leg room. It was fine for us, but my husband (6'4") would have had problems.
