Beaufort Help Needed Please
My DH and I will be making a two night stop in Beaufort on the way to Charleston. I have been on here doing some research, but what I find seems to be old, so hopefully someone out there can help.
We are the type of people that like to park our car and not get back in until we are ready to leave, we are foodies but the people we are joining Charleston, no so much, so I would like to find some places with great food, doesn’t have to be fancy, just good and we eat anything. We will be staying at Greyhound Flatts for the two nights we are there. Looks like a neat place and the few reviews they had were great. From what I understand about the area, it looks like the perfect location as well. We are planning a carriage ride and walking around all the shops We will be there in mid October So I am looking for help with: - Good food in the historic district preferably within walking distance. - Other than shopping/perusing and the carriage ride, can someone suggest ghost tours, old cemeteries, or any tour we should not miss? |
Eat:
Breakwater Wren's Blackstone's (breakfast) Plum's Common Grounds (coffee shop) Barbara Jeans (crabcakes) There are several excellent art galleries and shops in Beaufort on Bay Street. I would suggest you skip the carriage rides unless you just like the idea. the information I have heard them giving guests is frequently not accurate. Stop in at the Arts Council and the visitors center and see what's on offer for the time of your visit. If you have a chance for a home or garden tour, take it. Beaufort is a wonderful town. Enjoy your stay. |
I believe the weekend we will be there, there is a home and garden event going on, I will have to research that farther and see if I am remembering correctly.
Thanks for the heads up about the carriage ride, I think we will pass on that then. |
Yeah, save the carriage ride for Charleston. It's a great way to get your bearings here and pick out what might warrant a closer look.
I like all cm's recs. I would add Sgt. White's if you're in the mood for barbeque-which I ma at all times. If you can make yourself get into the car, drive out to Hunting Island. It is a beautiful undeveloped beach that's now a state park. |
Saltus River Grill is a nice place for dinner overlooking the water.

If you would be shopping for ladies' shoes, check out Divine Shoes. What a great shop.

On my last visit to Beaufort I tried the Tooting Egret. Aside from an unfortunate name, the restaurant is quite good. Perfect for lunch and only steps from Divine Shoes.
