Looking for a gorgeous resort on a sandy beach in the San Diego / La Jolla area. Any suggestions?

Big resort on big sandy beach: Hotel del Coronado
Small boutique Hotel on fun, crazy sandy beach: Tower 23 in Pacific Beach

I second Hotel Del - we love that place. The beach is fantastic and never crowded. The architecture of the hotel is so beautiful and the food in the Windsor? dining room was sensational.

Also, La Jolla has the Sea Lodge and La Jolla Beach & Tennis Resort it is not a 5 star but a 4 but the beach is gorgeous..

Tower 23 is new, nice and hip but the area is kinda sketch..
You can also try Paradise Point in Pacific Beach..

Stayed at Pacific Terrace in pacific beach. Very nice hotel and staff is very attentive.

I also loved Pacific Terrace.
