Beaches near Seal Beach CA

I will be staying in Seal Beach in early June. I have been to Seal Beach but found it sort of windy and cool.
If I want an easy, short (30min max) drive to a beach where I can sit and watch the waves but also find a place to eat, people watch/natural beauty,
where do you suggest I go?
Venice, Huntington, etc.
Thanks.

30 min may get you to Huntington, but it would never get you to Venice. June, however, will never be warm--here's the basic beach forecast: "Late night/early morning fog, clearing in the afternoons, returning around 3pm." Basically, the fog clears around 10am and rolls back in around 3pm. (It's why this CA girl goes to NC for the beach);-)

Thanks-what is your definition of warm? If its not windy, I am fine with
high 60s.

Anyone else?

Huntington is a wide, open beach, so the chances for wind there are greater. I would suggest Laguna Beach to the south or Manhattan Beach to the north. Lots of places to shop, sit and eat.

However, the conditions that TrvlMaven describes, "June Gloom", is everywhere on the CA coast.

Laguna Beach is a very nice area to spend time! ***kim*** ((f))

I agree that Laguna is great--I have been there before but I thought it would be a much longer drive.

It depends on what time of day, but checking google maps, both Manhattan and Laguna Beach are about 35-40 minutes away.

Long Beach doesn't have much in the way of waves, but has plenty of places to eat and people watch, and is within your driving time restriction.

We have friends living in Seal Beach. Takes 30-35 minutes to drive to, from our house.

Get off the 405 at Inglewood Ave, and go straight down MB Blvd. to the Pier. Parking lots at base, bring Quarters. Lots of casual restaurants around the Pier. Wonderful to walk out on, and people watch. Small Marine Aquarium in the round house at the end of pier, and lunch counter.

I don't think the weather will be significantly different at any of the beaches, but I like Manhattan & Hermosa for your purposes. The esplanade is flat and an easy walk. If you wait until around 10 am to leave, traffic shouldn't be a big problem.
