Beaches in Seattle???

The only beach I can find information on is Alki beach. Is this the nicest beach in the Seattle area? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The Puget Sound beaches (Alki, Golden Gardens - http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?ID=243 and Lincoln Park - http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?ID=460 ) are pebble beaches, and the water in Puget Sound is pretty darn cold. They're beautiful parks, however.

There are also several swimming beaches on Lake Washington and Green Lake (fresh water) if that appeals.

The beach at Madison Park on Lake Washington is a convivial place, and there are some good casual restaurants nearby. That beach, Golden Gardens on Puget Sound, and Green Lake are the popular beaches closest to downtown Seattle.

I agree with the Madison Park beach suggestion, and I recommend having lunch at Cactus nearby (walking distance).

Have fun!
