Beaches

Can anyone give me any recommendations on Florida beaches that are more deserted, I'm not talking abandoned just not swarms of tanning teenagers. Thanks for the help.

Any beach on Sanibel island.

When?

In season, you often/invariably have grizzled wrinklies like me on beaches without teens. Obnoxious hard bodies or lizard skin: take your choice.

I just got back from Crescent Beach. It was quiet and was not crowded at all. NOTHING like Daytona, etc. I'm not sure where you are located (and how far into Florida you want to travel) but it was convenient for travel for my group. Also the location is nice because it is close enough to St. Augustine that you can visit the historic downtown and take in the history, restaurants, and shops.

Rosemary Beach and Carrillon Beach are lovely, in the panhandle.

Again, it depends entirely on what time of year the OP plans to go to the beach. Some of these are great beaches but would be Goose Bump City in the fall, winter and spring. We almost froze in the Panhandle in April, but it is lost too hot then in SW Florida.

Sorry, that should have been "almost too hot."

Sanibel and Captiva for sure and the added plus is that the area itself is quite nice and not heavily commercialized. Depends on the time of year. We spent several days last year in December at Sanibel and people were still swimming and the place was pretty quiet.

Ack - you're forgetting the Redneck Riviera. Lotta pink marshmallows in there . . .
