Beachcomber or Outrigger Waikiki

Can anyone compare the two places - Waikiki Beachcomber and the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach?

I've already got a reservation at the Beachcomber, but am wondering if spending the extra $ is worth it for a room at the Outrigger Waikiki that happens to be across the street.

What say you?

Hi John, I've never stayed at the Beachcomber, but I've stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach, and it's a lovely hotel. Location can't get much better, and has at least 3 good restaurant's with ocean view's! Room's are large and BRIGHT!
I give it 5 *****

It depends upon what type of room you get at the Outrigger, they have many categories. I have stayed there many times, we have had some small, crummy standard rooms and some really nice oceanfront rooms. Price, of couse is dependent upon the size and location of the room you reserve. You can reserve a lesser room and hope for an upgrade but don't count on it or you may be disappointed.

I have also stayed at the Beachcomber many times. It is OK, not too fancy but in a good location, usually much cheaper than the Outrigger.

I visit Honolulu frequently and have stayed in at least 20 different hotels there. We get the most bang for our buck at the Marriott becuase husband is a Platinum member and we always get an awesome upgrade!

We have stayed several times at the Waikiki Beachcomber and were happy, but we paid for Ocean Front and high floor rooms. It is in a good location and you can see the ocean across the pink Royal Hawaiian Hotel. On the other hand, we haven't stayed at the Outrigger, but it is right on the beach and the restaurants are fun. We like to go to Dukes when we stay at the Hyatt nearby.
