In Florida, we love Siesta Key in Sarasota and Sanibel.

Sanibel is a great spot, and lots to do for kids (fishing, shelling, bird sanctuary) - but I'd say not in June-Aug as the water is so warm it can be "un-refreshing", plus strong possiblities for rays, jellyfish, etc in warmer water.

But generally a nice family destination.
