beach umbrellas

I love the sun....but have to use an umbrella due to my fair skin. Here's my problem - can I buy a beach umbrella for a reasonable price at the ABC store or rent one easily or should I take my trusty $10 Canadian umbrella with me??? I heard through a different web site that you can rent an umbrella for $30 (with a chair) per day..now that is insane - I'm barely paying that for my condo on Kuhio!!!!! For $10, I'll buy a new umbrella at Superstore and just leave it there - but I don't know if I can check a beach umbrella on Air Canada. Any advice?

Have you checked with the proprietor of the condo you are renting? Maybe the furnishings include beach gear for use by renters; that has been my experience renting in Atlantic ocean towns. I agree, though that I'd gladly buy one at the local Kmart or equivalent rather than rent.

You don't know if you can check a beach umbrella on Air Canada ? Have you thought of calling Air Canada and asking them ??

Thanks for the help...yes, I have thought of calling Air Canada, but I trust all of you much better than an Air Canada telephone agent.......
