beach resort in san diego

Need help in deciding between Lowes Coronado Bay resort, Shelter Pointe Hotel & Marina or the Catamaran resort. Looking for nice beach, watersport rentals onsite, nice pool, bike rentals and most importantly very clean rooms! Thanks for any suggestions.

Lowes Coronado is great. Have not been to the other ones you stated. Do check into BiddingForTravel and Betterbidding.com for ideas on how to get Lowes in your bid. I have seen it go for as little as $50-60 a night! Good luck

Catamaran is not "on the beach." It is located across the street. It is on the bay side.

Loews does not have a beach, just a marina. Hotel Del does have a nice beach.

The Catamaran is in a great location. On the Bay, one block to beach, shops restaurants, bike rental, the Broadwalk Mission Beach with watersport renta;s and nice pool.

The Catamaran is accross the street from a Hooters Bar. If you're young and like to party and drink a lot stay at the Cat- you'll feel right at home. The rooms are not the nices- just average. If you want class stay at the Loews or the Del.

We stayed 2 nights at the del last week. The resort is beautiful; great, large beach area. If a storm comes through like it did when we were in SD, you will not be able to go in the water for about 72 hours because of contamination from run-off water. The pool is fairly large, lots of lounge chairs and some cabanas poolside. We were upgraded to a large room in the original building. It was very comfortable and clean.

We also are booked for a premier or large room in the original bldg. Do you think this is comfortable enough for 4 people? It is suppose to be 350-420 sq. ft.

If it is a room like I had, it should be fine for 4 people. Ours was on the 3rd floor with a garden view. It had 2 comfy queen beds, large closet, large bathroom (although the toilet and sink area is not separate from the shower, which may slow down your morning routine). Very spacious.

JD - I have photos of the room and bathroom if you'd like them emailed to you.

blpar-would you email me your pictures at: [email protected]? I'm trying to decide if this room is big enough for 4, or if I should go up to the jr. suite. Thanks.

blpar Mar 24th, 2003 07:00 AM

I sent the photos; let me know if you don't receive them.

Sorry blpar, I didn't receive them because I gave you the wrong address. If you don't mind trying again I'd appreciate it. The correct address is:[email protected] Thanks
