Beach near Jacksonville
Going to jacksonville on business - would like to extend and spend a few nights at the beach.
Any recommendations? Tried Amelia Island plantation and they are sold out. I heard that the Ritz Carlton is under construction and not recommended at this time. Ponte vedra? How about Atlantic Beach (SEa turle inn) or Neptune Beach (Sea Horse Inn)? Any help is appreciated. [email protected] |
I'd go to Ponte Vedra.
|
I agree with padams, Ponte Vedra is very nice.
But the Sea Turtle Inn is not terrible and there are some nice restaurants in the area. But try for Ponte Vedra first :) |
You could even go to Jacksonville Beach. It would be closer.
|
You might consider heading down to St Augustine Beach.
|
I would try Fernandina Beach first. It's hard to imagine that all the places would be taken, and there are lots of them.
|
For beach quality, the St. Augustine Beach/Crescent Beach area would be an excellent choice. They are within easy driving distance of Jacksonville. Beachers Lodge <http://www.beacherslodge.com/> is a good place to stay and is direct oceanfront. Ask for an upper floor "king" unit for best views.

We are now considering the Fairbanks House or the Hampton inn(did i say the hampton inn?) in fernandina for first night to experience the old town and then to a condo on the beach for the next 2 nights. But then again south to crescent beach is another option as the beach looks quite nice there. Both look about a 40 minute drive to my business meeting in jacksonville. Any other recommendations are appreciated. |
Hampton Inn is nice, right in town so you just walk out the door and you are among the shops and a walk across the tracks to the water..and hopefully a manatee sighting :)
You must try to drive over the little causeway from Amelia Island to Big Talbot/Little Talbot Islands..the trees on the beach are such a sight!! http://tinyurl.com/mlczd |
Scarlett thank you for the recommendation. If not this trip - next time.
