beach location

Hi..our family of four is looking for a last minute beach vacation for august 4-11th. we know it's very late, but does anybody have any suggestions or thoughts. we could go to either the west or east coast or stay in michigan.

Hilton Head is reasonable from Michigan. Myrtle Beach should be moderately priced by August. Florida beaches often have off season prices in summer months: Clearwater and Cocoa have abundant family activities nearby.
Florida panhandle beaches are beautiful in the summertime: Fort Walton, Destin, and Pensacola.

The panhandle of Florida is nice...try the Seagrove Beach area.

Myrtle Beach is not moderately priced in early August, that is peak season.

Are you driving or flying?

Any of the east coast beaches south of North Carolina will be hot with warm ocean water.

I love Jekyll Island, New Smyrna Beach, and Sullivans Island.

With over 4,000 miles of coastline and hundreds of "beach communities" in the US to choose from it would help if you could give us some information about your family members, your like and dislikes, whether you want to fly/drive, your budget, etc. otherwise all you'll get is a list of beaches which won't do you any good.
