Beach holiday in Georgia?
Hallo,
Iīve been to Georgia before but never have visited the coast. Can anybody give me an idea how itīs like? Are there nice beaches and what do you think of staying there for a beach holiday? Any suggestion would be great..
Thanks

Miriam

My wife and I went to Tybee Island as a day trip out of Savannah (my favorite city). We both thought it was very nice.
The beaches on St. Simons Island and on Jekyll Island are superb. (Slight regional bias there.) But no kidding, having been to both, I think you will find them acceptable in every respect.
Many people stay there for a vacation.
I agree with the previous post. Jekyll is relaxed and has more of a private feel. St. Simons is nice too. Another option along the same lines is Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach right near the Ga/Fla border. Most of these beaches retain the flavor you'll find in old Southern towns such as Savannah, Charleston, etc. Very nice!

The Georgia coast is delightful. There is a nice resort on St. Simons Island called the King & Prince - nice beach, 3 or 4 pools, golf. There are several golf courses on the island. There are some other hotels on the island, but if you want to stay right on the beach, I would recommend this place. Nearby is The Cloister, a five star resort and very expensive. It is on Sea Island, and you have to cross St. Simons to get to it. On Jekyll Island is the Jekyll Island Club, which is an older hotel that was around when Jekyll was the place all the millionaires went to - Rockefeller, Carnegie, Vanderbilt, etc. You can see the remains of their "cottages" on the island too. The whole area is very nice and I hope you enjoy it.
