Beach driving allowed on Amelia Island?

Is driving on the beach allowed on Amelia Island? If so, what parts?

We've stayed at the Ritz there, but haven't visited the other beaches on the island. The sand was so deep by the RC there'd be no way you could drive a car there. Happily!!! I do not "get" driving on the beach!

Since much of the areas around there are National Parks, I am guessing you won't find much beach driving.

We have been there several times and I have never seen it.

I have seen some people try it (legal or not, I have no idea) I also helped push them back onto the road. It would about be like driving in a bunch of snow.

A long time ago, it was allowed with resident's permit.

Don't know about now.

Not allowed - thank goodness.

Why would anyone want to drive onto a beach and ruin it? There are enough vehciles on the road - and they should be kept there where they belong.

Agreed, except that many natives of the area (correctly IMO) point out that the beach was 'ruined' when they went ape-doo-doo with (over)development.
