BBQ Joints

I am doing a roadtrip with a friend from overseas and am looking for great BBQ joints along the way in Alabama and Tennessee.

We will be going through the following towns classified by sate:

TN: Chattanooga, Kimble, Monteagle, Manchester, Tullahoma, Lynchburg, Fayetville, and Belleview

AL: Huntsville, Priceville, Vinemont, Warrior, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Livingston, York

Amy contributions are welome. Thank you!

We live in McMinnville, TN and there is
a great BBQ place between McMinnville
and Manchester-Prater's BBQ. It is about 10-11 miles from I 24. They have great BBQ sandwiches, ribs, chicken etc.

Bob Syke's Barbecue is Birmingham's mainstream BBQ. I believe the historic location is in Bessemer.

See if you can find John T. Edge's book, Southern Belly. Not just BBQ but other southern food "treasures". He may have even written a BBQ book by now. He is the Executive Director of Southern Foodways, an organization dedicated to preserving southern food traditions.
