We will be staying at the Aladdin in October. Maximum walking distance for my friend with bad knees is about 2 blocks. In light of this, what is within approximately a quarter mile of:
1. the Aladdin, walking north to Paris
2. the Aladdin, walking south to Harmon Road
3. Paris, walking north to Bally's
4. Bellagio, walking north
5. Bellagio, walking south

The maps of the Strip that I've looked at don't show anything. Is there anything there?

You are ON the strip within two blocks of 10 major casinos... anything else is a short cab ride...

City blocks in Las Vegas aren't like most city blocks. Distances are very deceiving on the map.
It's 400 meters (quarter mile) from Bellagio's driveway to the north edge of Bellagio's property (at Flamingo).
It's 800 meters (half mile) from Harmon to Flamingo (corners of Bally's to Aladdin).

The good thing is you can sit down and play slots as you walk through one casino to the next. It is still a lot of walking though.

It's probably a quarter mile from your room to the sidewalk of the strip right in front of Aladdin. Seriously.

The others are correct. A block in vegas is NOTHING like a regular city block. A Coworker who used to live in Vegas told me door to door from Bellagio to Ceasers is 1/2 mile - and they are "next door".

A quarter mile from the Alladin is probably out to the street like Loki Said.

There IS the Monorail too. I think there may be a stop at or near the Alladin.

We went to Vegas a few weeks ago. H has a bad knee. I think he got thru it all on sheer will power and adrenalyn. Of course he paid for it (in more ways than one) for days after.

I was going to suggest renting a car, but it is even a walk from valet parking.

Take it slow and adjust your expectations! You will have a great time!

As an alternative to walking, you might consider using cabs. They are fairly plentiful and relatively inexpensive.

As indicated, blocks in Vegas are a relative term. If walking is an issue you'll be basically restricted to the hotels that are near the intersection of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd. That include's Bellagio, Bally's, Paris, Caesar's and Barbary Coast.

I just got back from Vegas this weekend. We walked from Trpicana to the Aladdin. It was a most uncomfortable walk. It's long, hot and crowded. You have to walk up and down some ramps right at Aladdin,then you have to be sure you don't enter the wrong door and end up in the Desert Passage. The amount of waking just to get out of your hotel in unbelievable!!

We have a friend who is afflicated with MS. He stayed at the Flamingo, as I recall, to lessen the amount of walking he'd have to do. I think he didn't even have to walk through their casino to get outside, as is usual with most of the other hotels. And then they just used cabs to get around.

Actually staying there several days in the 112 degree temperatures, I found the best way to enter or leave Aladdin was through the Desert Passage Shops --either right by Commander's Palace or the vacant place at the other end towards Paris. Then it was a simple walk within air-condtioned comfort to the casino or hotel lobby. I thought the separate hotel/casino entrance was really inconvenient.

But what is within a quarter mile? Certainly NOT the self-parking for the hotel!

I believe that the South corner of the Aladdin is about 1/4 mile from the North entrance to Desert Passage...no kidding, I'm with the rest of these posters.

To your other questions:

Paris and Bally's are actually connected by a passage that is filled with restaurants and some shops. It is all of 1/4 mile from one entrance to the other inside or out.

Bellagio North will take you to Ceasars but again more than the stated distance by the time you get in the Ceasars door.
Bellagio South will get you about to the middle of the fountain lake depending on where in the hotel you start.
