Baseball tickets

We are coming to New York in September 2011 and would like to see a baseball game. New York yankee v Toronto Blues are down to play on Friday 2nd September would it be advisable to purchase tickets before we come or get them when we arrive Middle August.

It is always advisable to get tickets in advance if your schedule does not permit alternate days. And you never know what you will pay and where you will sit if you wait until the last moment.

Many Yankee games sell out - and a lot of the reasonably priced seats are sold as season tickets. To have the best chance of a decent seat without spending a fortune buy tickets as soon as your travel date is set. Waiting until you arrive is likely to result in yuo having to buy either really bad (top tier) or really expensive tickets.

Thank you for your comments. Is there a special & safe on site where I can buy these tickets

www.yankees.com. Tickets have not gone on sale yet. Most likely early March. They will be pricey. If you can not get tickets thru them (may sell out), I have used www.stubhub.com but prices go up on there as its a form of legalized scalping.

Agree to go to yankees.com - they will have all of the primary tickets available. If you cannot find what you want and need to go to the secondary market (known as scalpers) try stubhub.com. they are honest and reliable (tickets are real and are the seats are as promised - no fakes and no bait and switch.)

I would agree with going to stubhub. It's the "official" ticket marketplace of the NY Yankees. Since it's Labor Day weekend they should get big crowds and prices might be higher then face value but you can always get something. With Yankee Stadium there are few bad seats. Even upper deck gives you a good view. You can even spend an inning or two just walking around the field level.

Well, yes, but start with yankees.com. Then , use stubhub if you can't get tickets from the yankees site when they go on sale. Stubhub is a marketplace for re-sellers.

Nice thing about stubhub is if you get your tickets and can't use them you can sell them on stubhub or even try ebay.

From Manhattan you can even take the subway the D train on the west side and I think it's the 4 on the east side, both stop at Yankee Stadium.
