Bargain show tickets in Vegas

We're interested in seeing either Jubilee (for prototypical Vegas glitz)or Penn & Teller when we're there next week.

Can someone tell me--for either of these shows--is it possible to wait until the last minute to see if bargain deals pop up to fill seats, or should reservations be made now?

Also, if bargains to shows are available, where do you get them?

Thanks!

Bargains can be had many ways including:

1) There is a half priced day of tickets booth at MGM near the Coke bottle. Typically second tier shows only. Much like TKTS in NYC.

2) There are various free magazines with coupons in them. "Showbiz" will mail you a copy before your trip. Others can be acquired in the airport or in most hotel lobbies. Some may be in your room.

3) Sign up for a slot card at the casino of the hotel at which the show takes place. It will often come with some 2/1 show coupons.

4) There is usually someone handing out coupons at the carnival court at Harrah's. Rio is a Harrah's property so perhaps P&T coupon will be available but probably not likely.

5) See the concierge at your hotel.

6) Las Vegas Advisor, ENtertainment Book, Casino Player, etc. sell coupon books. Also, billhere.com for individual coupons.

7) Gamble at the hotel where the show is, ask Pit Boss for comped passes.

Whether or not you need to book ahead depends a lot on exactly what date you'll be there. I would consider both shows medium sellers, may or may not sell out, probably only a concern on Fri/Sat nights or when a convention is in the hotel.

Good luck.

We booked a package at Ballys in April that included 2 for 1 Jubilee tickets. I've also heard that same day tickets are deeply discounted at the box office.

I was in Vegas in May, and I do remember Jubilee tickets being available at the discount ticket booth. I honestly do not remember if I saw Penn & Teller or not.

Don't go to Jubilee -- we had heard good things about it, and really did not enjoy it. Not worth the $$

Best deal of the week was the 2 for 1 ticket with 2 drinks to the comedy club at the Tropicana....we had a blast and the comics were terrific!

There's a great show at the Aladdin in the Center Stage Theater - Society of Seven, they are from Waikiki and are EXCELLENT. The tickets cost either $35 or $45 per person (drinks extra) and they are better than most shows on the Strip.

Can you tell us more about this show?

Jubilee would have been disappointing has I not had such low - campy - expectations. It really wasn't worth the price of the full price tickets.

About 30 minutes before showtime, while racing to meet my friend who was joining me - I entered Bally's from the strip (through the big outdoor neon tunnel) and saw a hand-written sign just inside the sliding doors. They were selling full price tickets ($60, I think) at the deep discount of $5 each. I felt like a chump for paying full price.

To clairelong - About the Society of Seven show - the group is made up of 7 very talented entertainers - each of them sing and play a multitude of instruments and the switch all over the place during the show. The group began some 30+ years ago and spent over 30 years as Hawaii's premiere show group, entertaining in the showroom at the Outrigger Waikiki. Now they're based at the Aladdin. Their show is full of laughs, great harmonies, oldies, lots of impersonations - but mostly very comical and exaggerated ones. They end the show with an emotional rendition of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" which is terrific. You won't be disappointed - they are great.
