Bar Harbor, ME Hotel Recommendations
My sister and I are doing a girls weekend in Bar Harbor this Septmeber (Thursday - Monday).
I'm searching for a nicer place, but not too expensive. I'm trying to decide between the Newport Building in The Bar Harbor Inn or the Frenchmans Bay building in the Holiday Inn SunSpree. I've never been to Bar Harbor before, so if anyone can give me some feedback on either hotel I'd appreciate it. We'll be out and about during the days and eating out at night, so we won't spend a lot of time at the hotel, but my sister can get uptight about places that are not super clean and nice. |
We had a wonderful stay at the Bar Harbor Manor.

Any other thoughts on this topic? I'm visiting with family in early September, also a Thursday through Monday. It looks like the Bluenose Inn is available, but it seems pricey. There is a Ramada Inn in Ellsworth (is that near Bar Harbor?) and the Bar Harbor Villager. Any of these sound good? Any others?

Ellsworth is pretty far, it's about a 30-40 minute drive. Being right in Bar Harbor is better.
I stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn once, and I loved the location right on the water. Its an easy walk to many restaurants. Our room was very nice, and very clean. The heated swimming pool was pleasant. But we stayed in a view room in the main building. I'm not sure what the non-view buildings are like. The included continental breakfast is fine, but be aware its not served in the main dining room/restaurant. It was buffet style, served in one of the other buildings. It seemed a bit downscale for such a nice place. |
What about the Acadia Inn?

In May we stayed at the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel. It was a nice hotel and good breakfast. We liked the location - we could walk to the harbor and the shops.

I really like the Inn at Southwest Harbor in Southwest Harbor. It is quieter & less "touristy" than Bar Harbor. I highly recommend having lobster at Thurston's Lobster Pound in Bernard.
