Bar Harbor in mid June? Quick! Help!

Why are July & August high season for Bar Harbor? Is it foggy & rainy in Mid June?
Help! Should we reschedule? Thanks.

June weather in Bar Harbor can be rainy but it's usually fairly mild (high 60's to 70 days, high 40's to low 50's nights). Great weather for hiking, but a bit chilly on the water. There are no black flies yet in June, so that's a plus.

Kids don't get out of school until late June, so June is less crowded than July and August (but certainly not 'dead'). I prefer June and September in Bar Harbor - shorter waits in the restaurants and far fewer people at the popular tourist attractions (except on the weekends). Enjoy!

Susan, I may have been one of the posters who alarmed you about June weather in Bar Harbor!
My husband and I visited this area numerous times in June, and yes, it was mostly relatively cool and drizzly, but this wasn't all negative. As Kate pointed out, it wasn't {usually} extremely cold {pack to layer}, the hiking was easier, though sometimes foggy, and there were no crowds. The fog creates a certain mysterious ambience, actually. We had a great time every visit, and I'm sure you will too! And, of course, you might luck out and get unseasonably summery weather!

Relax Susan

Regardless of the weather you are venturing into beautiful country. You would be lucky to be blessed with a misty day. There is nothing more romantic. It is beautiful there no matter what the weather.

July and August are the high season because schools are out and families are vacationing. Everyone's headed for Acadia National Park. June is definitely a better time for you to go, although you may still find it crowded.

Eat at Maggies!
