Bar Harbor
 

Hi....looking for a place to stay in Bar Harbor for a first time trip to Maine. We're travelling with 2 families with small children. Waterfront would be nice. Would like to avoid a commerical hotel.....looking to go 'round September. Any any recommendations? Thank you. Frank [email protected]

Frank, <BR>There is a great site by the Maine Innkeepers Association that will list tons of different lodging in Bar Harbor. It is located at maineinns.com. Links are available to most, of not all, properties and is very herlpful in deciding where to stay. Good luck and enjoy Bar Harbop. It is a great place as is Acadia.

Thanks for everyone's help. My wife and I decided that, with kids, the most practical place was the Bar Harbor Inn (also based on a Mainer's rec). United we stand. Frank

I just got back from Bar Harbor.<BR><BR>The Bar Harbor Inn looks fabulous( we stayed elsewhere)....make sure you get a waterfront room.<BR><BR>Try Jordan's for breakfast( on cottage st about 3 blocks from your hotel).<BR><BR>It's a very casual family oriented place with great blueberry pancakes.

We just got back from Bar Harbor/Acadia too. Didn't stay at the Bar Harbor Inn but did stop in for Blueberry pie in the Reading Room resturant - it was good! We stayed at the Balance Rock Inn, 2 doors down the Shore path from the Bar Harbor Inn. The place was wonderful, friendly and a gorgeous view. Lobster at Abels was great as was Beals Lobster pound. Try Two Cats on Cottage Street for breakfast too. Acadia is beautiful even in the rain. We bought the CD from the visitors center and took the Park Loop drive, then rented bikes and rode some carriage roads (some are up-hill!!)<BR>What a great place, definitely want to go back.

Karen,<BR><BR>We loveed Acadia too. Had fun hiking up Cadillac mountain early in the day.<BR><BR>Parkside Restaurant was very good..but don't think I'd reccomend it for kids.
