The Bar Harbor Inn is a wonderful place to stay. They offer very economical package deals. Great food, tours, beautiful accomodations. We highly recommend them.

I used to go to Mt. Desert Island every summer with my family and I can't say enough about how much I love the island! If you are nature lovers then you will have many activities to do. I suggest seeing Cadillac Mountain, which provides a stunning view of the harbor and ocean. A great time to go is at sunset or sunrise. Also, you can go to the Jordan Pond House, which provides a carriage ride through the park, and tea and popovers afterwards.
The town of Bar Harbor is beautiful just to walk through, visit the one-of-a-kind stores and neat eateries. Be sure to eat a Lobster roll!

We just returned from a 4-day visit to Acadia and I can't wait to return! The Jordan Pond House is a great stop for tea and popovers or for lunch, but be sure you have a table with a view of the pond and the Bubbles. We thoroughly enjoyed the following restaurants: Cafe This Way -- small, friendly and excellent food and the Porcupine -- excellent food in a cozy setting. We didn't take any tours, but a good map and a pair of sneakers can get you to plenty of easy walks with spectacular views and places of interest. We enjoyed Indian Point, a walk through the woods to the point with views of seals in the water, and we were awed by the rugged coast and crashing waves at Great Head. Enjoy!

Try and take in a boat trip,we took two on our visit to Bar Harbor, one to see the wild life, seals osprey water fowl etc. and an evening cruise to one of the islands for a lobster dinner both were very enjoyable and the sunset on the way back from the evening cruise was stunning.Enjoy!

I was a waitress in Bar Harbor for four years a *long* time ago! I served a lot of lobsters, but when I wanted to eat one, I went to Fisherman's Landing down by the water, off West Street.
Also, don't miss the Shore Path. Ask any of the locals how to find it. It's actually right in town. And check out the local history museum. I believe it's in the basement of the library. The story of the fire of '47 is fascinating (wiped out 2/3 of the island). Have a great time!

STAY AWAY FROM BAR HARBOR WHALE WATCH COMPANY!!! We were ripped off by the Bar Harbor Whale Watch Company (Bar Harbor, Maine). They did NOT honor their money back guarantee when we did NOT see any
whales. They would NOT refund our money. My advise is to use a reputable company!!
