Baltimore Walking and Food Tours
 

Anyone have any feedback on the Fells Point historical and ghost walking tours or the Charm City food tours? Spending a couple of days visiting offspring and looking for something a 20 something and parents can do together. Have already done many of the Inner Harbor and museum options.

When I was in Baltimore I started to do one of the historic walking tours and got bored because the sites are so far apart and most are marked by just a sign to read, although the ghost tour does sound like fun. If you have not already seen it, check out the American Visionary Museum at the foot of Federal Hill. I found it very fun and interesting and I am not really an art museum person.

Another vote for the Visionary Art Museum. Very enjoyable, including another "non art museum" type person.

The walking tours I was looking at are led by "urban park rangers", nor self-led. Will look into the Visionary Art Museum, but if next week the weather stays as nice as it's been, would love to spend a good chunk of the day outside.

Baltimore has a free bus, The Charm City Circulator, that will take you to most parts of the city. Your first stop should be the Visitor's Center in the Inner Harbor. By doing some homework on what type of food you want to experience, you can plan your route accordingly with interesting stops and a moveable feast. The Visionary Museum is a a great place, and from there, a walk through Federal Hill park, will take you to my part of town. Not to be missed in Federal Hill is the Cross Street Market, and Cafe Centro (tapas).

Other places depend on your interests, but the B&O Train Museum is worth it, along with the Walters Art Museum and of course, Fort McHenry.

Not to be missed is our own little slice of Italy. Little Italy offers a great atmosphere. If you want totally upscale Italian, try Cinghale (Harbor East) or Sotta Sopra (Charles St.)

One final word- if you are driving, PLEASE park in a garage. Most of Baltimore is Residential parking zoned and the city is metered. Trust me, it is cheaper to pay a $20 garage fee than $700 to get your car out of the tow lot!
