Baltimore to Philly

I am traveling with a friend next weekend. We are flying into BWI going to Philly to one conference and then coming back to BWI to another conference and flying out of BWI. Should we rent a car or use public transportation.
Accomodations in Philly are at Club Quarters and in Baltmore, at Univ. Notre Dame-Maryland.
Any thoughts?
~~Thanks

It's an easy drive up I-95 between Baltimore and Philly, but you can also take Amtrak pretty easily between the two. What's the issue the cost of renting and parking the car or the convenience? A car is probably more convenient but if you throw in the cost of parking it at the conferences would probably be more expensive.

Check www.amtrak.com and compare to cost/convenience of friving, as suggested.

Forgot to say, traffic on 95 can and often is horrible, a nightmare. Depending on the time you intend to travel between the cities, Amtrak might be your best bet regardless of cost.

It's expense account anyway, right?

I have got stuck in plenty of traffic jams between Richmond, VA and Boston, MA along I-95/NJTP over the years; but it's relatively smooth between Baltimore and Philly.

There are two freeways - I-95 and I-895 through Baltimore with a total of 6 lanes, and then it's at least 3 lanes, often 4, each direction all the way to Philly. There's also the I-495 bypass for Wilmington.

There is no expense account between the two confenence. Yes, I am concerned about the expense of parking, but I guess taxi fees would from Penn stattion to Club Quarters would be about the same.

You can take Amtrak to 30th Street Station in Philly, then connect to any Septa train headed toward Center City (free with your Amtrak ticket) and get off at Suburban Station, the very next stop. I think it's a fairly easy walk from there to Club Quarters. Go to www.septa.org to check it out.

Remember, to catch Amtrak from BWI to Philly you need to catch a train that actually stops at the BWI airport station (which still requires a shuttle bus), not just a train from Baltimore - not all the Amtrak trains stop at BWI.

Can't speak to the Baltimore side of things - check the university website about how to get there via public transit. But besides gas and parking, remember that there will be like $6 in tolls each way on the interstates.
