Baltimore November 13-16
Hi!
We just received tickets to the Notre Dame / Navy game for November 15 in Baltimore. We live in San Francisco, mid 20's, active adventurist travel bugs. I am asking for ANY advice at this point: 1. With the election that week, DC is going to be CRAZY, I presume. 2. Should we fly into NYC and take the train down to Baltimore? 3. Would we be making a mistake by trying to include DC into our itinerary? 4. Is there enough to do in Baltimore that we should plan all of our travel and interests there vs. NYC and or/ DC? Thank you for any advice! I am overwhelmed with planning at this point...I am also planning my sister's wedding. Kindly, Tiffany |
How long do you have to spend that week? All week or just a few days
|
Isn't the game in Annapolis?
|
Fly into Baltimore (BWI). The election is on 4 November so it shouldn't be a problem. The game is at Raven's Stadium.
If you are flying on the 13th from the West Coast, you will be arriving late afternoon/early evening. Spend the 14th touring Baltimore, the 15th enjoying the game, and I assume you will be flying back on the 16th. Forget DC this trip. Spend the 14th exploring Ft. McHenry, the Aquarium, and the Inner Harbor area. Have dinner Friday night at Amicci's in little Italy -- make a reservation several days before because it will be crowded. Have pre-dinner drinks at James Joyce Pub, walking distance to Little Italy. Have drinks after the game at the Wharf Rat. Visit Fells Point and have mussels at Bertha's and dinner in the area. Mama's on the Half Shell in the Canton area is also a very good "locals" restaurant. Short cab ride from Inner Harbor. I would make your hotel reservations NOW! Have a fun trip. GO NAVY! |
The election isn't going to cause any additional tourism/congestion in DC--but you sure don't want to be here during the inaugural time--total craziness!

I would do what winstoncup suggests.
|
Agree with winstoncup as well. Fly into BWI.
|
Thank you all!
Winstoncup~ thank you kindly for your wonderful advice! I am currently looking into all of your suggestions..Reservations/tickets/etc. Everything sounds perfect! but....GO IRISH! :) Hope you all are enjoying a wonderful Labor Day Weekend! Cheers, Tiffany |
Is the Tremont Plaza a good hotel pick? We were looking for something fun... Renaissance Harborplace looked amazing, but quite pricey!
|
We stayed at the Tremont Plaza last December for Army-Navy game. Got it on Hotwire. It's a nice 3* but not in the Inner Harbor area. About a 15-20 minute walk. They did have a shuttle, and we talked the Bellman into driving us downtown. It's a short Taxi ride. We had friends who stayed at the Holiday Inn Inner Harbor who were very pleased.
|
Don't know about the Holiday Inn Inner Harbor, but be sure to check the exact location of any hotel billing itself as "inner harbor"--there was one with that name that was a pretty long way from the inner harbor(south of the football stadium, as I recall). As for dinner, most of the "Little Italy" restaurants are fairly traditional red-sauce places. Definitely fly into BWI if you can get good plane reservations, it's so convenient to Baltimore.

Thank you RuthMC and Wintsoncup!

My son is a senior in the band. . . but they are not going. Let's hope for a win...Go Irish!
