Baltimore/BWI hotels
Has anyone stayed at the Springhill suites at BWI? We are planning a baseball weekend this summer at Camden Yards and flying into BWI The other option was Doubletree across from Johns Hopkins...Any comments will be helpful.

Why not stay right downtowon at the Inner Harbor? You could walk to Camden Yards, restaurants, sights, etc. without having to head back to BWI to sleep. They also have water taxi's to take you all around the harbor. You could probably get a nice place on Priceline. ((b))

My guess is that for the price you're paying for these you could probably use Priceline for an inner harbor hotel.
Neither are very convenient to Camden, which has plenty of choices nearby. The BWI area has little to offer beside the chain hotels. You might want to book one of these, but they try for a Priceline deal. |
We did a priceline hotel at BWI, and wished we had stayed downtown at the inner harbor. We wasted time and money going back and forth. We did the duck tour and it was fun and a good way to see some of the city.

I probably should have been more clear. The poster could book one of the places they mentioned -- either Johns Hopkins or BWI -- but only use them as a fallback if Inner Harbor Priceline bids don't work.
Other than staying close to the airport for an early morning flight, there aren't many other reasons for staying near BWI. And the JHU area isn't very convenient to Camden either, not when you have so many places within walking distance. Even a place like Fell's Point, where you could take a water taxi to the Inner Harbor might be worth a look. |
We've stayed a few times at the Doubletree Inn at the Colonnade, across from JHU. It's a nice hotel, but not close to Camden yards. When we stay downtown, we like a boutique hotel, The Tremont Park. Nice continental breakfast included and big one-bedroom suites. Helpful staff there, a free shuttle to and from the Inner Harbor, private parking (for a fee) in a locked lot behind the hotel. It's got a nice historic feel, maybe a bit tattered around the edges, but not too much so.
Or, if you specify Inner Harbor five-star hotel on Priceline, you'd probably get a nice place. Don't stay near BWI-- boring. |

I have found the BWI priceline hotel are consistenly "expensive" for what you get AND VERY inconvenient for Camden Yards
