Baltimore Accomodations Help

Six adults and a 1 y/o child are heading to Baltimore. Our primary considerations are that the room size is decent and clean. An added bonus would be a kitchenette. As for budget, we were looking to spend a max of $100 per room (per two people), but would prefer a condo like atmosphere where we could all stay. Since we will have transportation, it is necessary that we stay in Harborplace, but would like a safe neighborhood. Does this place exist?
Unfortunately, I don't think so. If you want to stay downtown, most, if not all, of the hotels will be fairly expensive, and I don't think that any of those offer a "condo-like atmosphere." You'd have to research Balto. County for lower room prices, but I think $100/night would still be difficult to find. Good luck!

Oops, I meant I CAN stay outside Harborplace. I found some hotel rooms within that range, but was looking for a place with the kitchenette and that could potentially accomodate six people.

Try the Tremont Plaza hotel, which has suites with kitchenettes and is downtown, not far from Harbor area. Am not sure of the price, but this is the best option I can think of for you, and is known for being safe, clean and reasonable in an otherwise expensive downtown core.

Try the hotels at the BWI Airport such as HomeWood Suites, AmeriSuites, or Residence Inn. You can probably find a studio or 1 bedroom with a Kitchen and you will only be 10 miles from downtown Balto with easy accessibility to the Inner Harbor via the BWI Parkway.
Good Luck

The Inn at the Colonnade is a Doubletree Hotel near Johns Hopkins University in a decent area. Very good upscale restaurant in the hotel--close to the Baltimore Museum of Art and only about 3 miles north of Inner Harbor area.

If you stay near the airport, and your hotel has free shuttle to/from BWI, you can take the Light Rail to town, should you not all wish to pile in the car, or someone wants to stay longer. You can purchase a ticket for $3 that allows unlimited use of lightrail, subway & bus for a day. I think there is an Embassy Suites at Hunt Valley (I don't know how far that is from downtown) adjacent to a lightrail station.

Yes, there is an Embassy Suites at Hunt Valley and it's very close to the lightrail. It would take 20-30 minutes to get to the Harbor area from there. Safe area--but is the longer drive worth it? How long will you be in town and will you be heading to the city everyday?

I am also planning a trip to the Baltimore area soon. My sister lives in Parkville, and we are looking for a hotel in that area as well.

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in that area as well? The last one I stayed at (Days Inn) was pretty nasty.

Ronr, there are two hotels - Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden Inn - in the Perry Hall/White Marsh area, which is approximately 10 minutes from Parkville. They were built within the last five years, and a friend of my husband's worked at the Hampton Inn, so both should be clean properties.

The two hotels in White Marsh are a good choice---or the Sheraton in Towson. It's near TowsonTowne Center (shopping mall) the hotel has a bridge that connects it and several eating options there or nearby. Hotel is a bit more upscale than the White Marsh properties. It's probably about the same distance depending on where in Parkville your sister is.

Thanks for the replies on Parkville area hotels. My sister will have a newborn and a 18 mo. old at the time of our visit, and we didn't want to impose on them at this time.

My apologies to I ([email protected]) for interrupting the original post .

ronr

These were great suggestions on Tremont Plaza, BWI and, maybe, White Marsh. However, White Marsh does sound far. The light rail idea was very helpful. Not only in terms of car space, but, also, avoiding parking downtown.
Thanks for all the replies.

I am staying at the Amerisuites at BWI this weekend. Any feedback is appreciated.
