Bally’s in Vegas

I like the Bally’s in A.C. Nice place, good food, people are pleasant enough. No nonesense place. Not as flashy as Taj Mahal, but good enough.
So how's the Bally’s in Vegas? I am thinking of staying there next time I go.
I see prices arent bad, higher than on Fremont st, but not by much than Riviera, Luxor, Tropicana, Harrah's.

It exactly like your review of the AC resort... good enough, nothing flashy...

We liked it well enough for our one night stay. They upgraded us to a suite that would have made Dino and Sammy happy. Location is excellent.

We stayed there about a year ago. The location was wonderful, center Strip. Our room was large and the bathroom very clean and modern. For $44/night, it was a bargain. I'd stay there again.

Another recommendation, we've stayed at Ballys in Vegas many times for their good rates and I love the location. Easy to get to Bellagio, Ceasers and you are basically "mid-strip". Some rooms have been remodeled, sometimes you get lucky with a view of the Bellagio fountains.

Another vote here for Bally's, if you get a good price. It's "attached" to Paris. Some cons: The casino doesn't have the filtration system the newer hotels do (for cig smoke), and the pool area is very simple.

Where Bally's is one of the better hotels in A/C, it's one of the lesser hotels in Vegas.

If you can get the Mirage, Treasure Island, Monte Carlo, Planet Hollywood, or one of the newer hotels at City Center for not much more money, I'd stay at one of those.

It also depends on how long you're staying and how far you're coming from. If you are flying cross country, treat yourself and stay someplace newer and nicer.

I will admit the location is great at center strip.

I was there last in April.A good value and location is very good.I enjoy the connection to The Paris.

Flying from NYC. Was looking for 5 day stay.
My choice:
2 adults – 5 days/4nights - $470/person
Bally’s
Harrah's
Riviera
Excalibur
Luxor
Tropicana

Out of those choices, I would go with either Bally's or Harrahs (but if you are using the pool, go with Ballys)

SAnParis2 Dec 15th, 2010 10:11 AM

I would also choose Bally's unless I had been to Vegas before (I am guessing you haven't) in which case I choose the Luxor. The Trop is an old dump, Ex is cheesy & for kids (think Knights of the Roundtable). Riviera is also aged although I have not been there recently. Harrah's is OK, but nothing special. Everytime I have stayed there it has been on somebody elses' comps & the pool is teeny-tiny.

Avoid the Riviera....

owlwoman Dec 15th, 2010 10:51 AM

I'd stick with Bally's,SAnParis' descriptions are on target, the only problem with Luxor is it's at the "end" of the strip, so, IMO, the location is not as good. I also like that Bally's connects with Paris so you can get great pastries and coffee at La Notre, (I think that's the name it's the very good French bakery) in the AM.

We stayed at Bally's a few years ago and our room was fine. The location can't be beat - center strip. When we stayed there, half of the hotel and been renovated and half hadn't. We got a new room which was nice and clean. Nothing fancy, but fine. My sister and her husband got a room in the older part of the hotel that had not been renovated and it was awful - very dated and just had that "not clean" look that older rooms have, no matter how clean they really are. Definitely ask for a newly remodeled room.

POMAH: Check out Treasure Island they're offering rooms for $69 per night Sunday through Thursday in January and February. Not sure when you are going.

Frank Dec 16th, 2010 06:31 AM

POMAH: Just realized your price includes airfare and is per person. I checked January packages and got the Aria with Jetblue for $454 on Expedia. You must be going at a different time of year.

Babette_Olsen Dec 16th, 2010 09:48 AM

We stayed there last April for 3 nights. The rate was decent and the room was fine - not fancy but not bad at all. The location can not be beaten.

I stayed at Bally's about 6 years ago and would stay there again. Location is great although our room was a little dated. Also on the list is the Tropicana and while it had been pretty dated they recently remodeled. I have not seen the new rooms but the pool area is very nice. On their website the new rooms look pretty nice, especially for the money.
