Bally's in Atlantic City - Have you been?
 

We will be going to AC in couple of weeks. We've been there a number of times before and usually stay at Showboat. We can get a comp room this time and are thinking about staying instead at Bally's since it is closer to "The Pier" and other casinos and it could get reeeeeal cold in January. Showboat is way at the end of the Boardwalk not near much of anything else.

I've looked on-line and can get any type of room at Bally's as a comp. Wondering what the difference between their cheapest room and their most expensive is. They call them "Deluxe" "Luxury" and "Premium" (this last supposedly the best -most expensive- one).

Anyone stayed in any of these rooms?

I've stayed at all the Harrah's properties in AC many times. The nicest rooms in Ballys are in the Tower (the tallest part), usually reserved for Diamond cardholders. However, AC is hurting and don't hesitate to ask for an upgrade when you get there. If not available, I'd ask for the Garden Tower, which is above the Total rewards Center. Both are a notch above Showboat, in my opinion. If you have the option, stay at Caesars instead - much nicer than the other two. The newest, nicest rooms are in Harrahs Marina, but the location is a disadvantage if you like to walk anywhere.

We already booked at Ballys. Got a comp for a "Premium" room. Have no idea where that would put us in the hotel itself. (Tower or Garden Tower?)

Bally is an okay place to stay. I believe Bally's is connected to Coyote Kates Casino which is also connected to Caesars. So even if the weather is blistering cold and horrible you can check out those 3 casinos without needed to lug around a coat or deal with the cold. If you feel the need to shop there is a huge shopping area about a block away from Caesars. The Pier Shopping connecting to Caesars is so very expensive you can't even buy anything. My favorite casino to play in is Hilton because its quant and small. To sleep in I thing the Borgata has the best of everything. good luck, maybe you will be a winner. The previous person is correct, the casinos are hurting now that Philly has two new ones opened. I would ask for a comp everything. They can only say no..but they may say yes. have a blast.

We've been to Caesar's before, but wont stay in those "overlooking the lobby" rooms which also have low ceilings and a totally claustrophobic feel. And are not cheap!

So - Free at Bally's is OK with us.

Yes, we know about The Pier - there's one place there that is actually reasonable for dining out. And you overlook the ocean. Not bad.

Well, we went to Bally's. We had a "premium" room, or so the lady at the check-in counter said. I asked her to make sure, as that is what we reserved (a comp).

However, this was not a premium room. It was a "deluxe" - a step down from the premium category. The elevators going to this group of rooms had metal walls that were covered with metal-looking paper that was peeling. The hallways had a brown and orange decor reminiscent of 1975.

I know you're not guaranteed the type of room you've reserved, if a comp, but we made sure we asked the check-in woman and she concurred that she was giving us a premium.

When I got home I looked on Bally's website and saw the room we were in - NOT a premium. So I wrote to Bally's and complained. Said that either this lady doesn't know Bally's rooms or she actually lied to us.

When you reserve a comp, they reserve the right to put you in the janitor's closet if they want to.

HET is hurting. They've laid off so many people, they close floors and even wings during slow times, such as winter.

There was an article in the newspaper a few days ago that for the first time ever, PA slot revenues exceeded NJ for the month of December.

As I said, there is no guarantee of type of room. My problem was that the lady at the check-in counter assured us that this was a "Premium Room". Thus, my problem with her.

G\wrote to Harrah's about this and got an answer - they're giving us 5,000 bonus points to make up for the "incident".
