Bahamas cruises

Please respond if you have taken either the Royal Caribbean or Holland America 3-4 day cruise to the Bahamas from Miami. Let me know your impressions concerning the condition of ship, staterooms, dining, shore excersions, etc. Thanks.

Hi Shannon, you will get more responses if you post on the Cruise Board.

I did a 4 day on Norwegian. We stopped at Nassau and Freeport and on to their private Island. I did not like either port, however the cruise lines private Island was quite nice and very relaxing. One thing I hated was all the panhandlers that were swarming around the docks at each site. If you really want to go to the Bahamas look into going to one of the out Islands, like Harbor Island.

Just got back from a 3 day cruise on Majesty of the Sea. RC The ship was great as was the food and entertainment. Didn't like downtown Nassau, but suggest you talk to a taxi driver to take you around the island. It's cheaper than taking the tours scheduled by the cruise line. We really enjoyed Coco Cay, RC's island.

IMO, the shore excursions are overpriced. You would be better off exploring the Island by yourself.
