Because of the lack of quality control, I can no longer trust the Quality Inn line. Never did like Comfort Inns, but we had a couple of good experiences with QI (esp. Des Moines on I-80 west). However, some REALLY bad experiences (Pecos, TX for one) led me to complain to their customer service. Because I have never had any response from them, I can only conclude they don't want my business.

I think the rules are very simple: caveat emptor.

In this life you get as much as you pay for - if you're very lucky - often you get much less. Getting more is an incredible surprise. For rock bottom prices - you get rock bottom service as well - it's really as simple as that. You can;t assume cheap is simple and clean - its quite likely to be simple and dirty.

A friend of mine had to stay at some super bargain place near New Orleans - don;t recall which - Super 8 or something - due to car trouble - and her room was robbed when she went across the street to get something to eat. The thief stole her raincoat (not even new or expensive). She reported it to the police - over the protests of the desk clerk - and it turned out the clerk had stolen it - it was in her car in plain sight.

Perhaps that's why you get no satisfaction in these places - to solve the problem the person in charge would have to either work harder or hire someone to do so.

Regardless of how old the original post is, I have to say that I have had good luck the few times I've stayed at Comfort Inns. They were clean and neat, the breakfasts fine for the price. For some reason, I have stayed at Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inns more lately when I didn't want to pay big bucks, but we've had no complaints when we've stayed at Comfort Inns.

I would rather find a plastic wrapped sex toy in the dresser drawer than one of those Gideon Bibles. Who knows where that bible has been over the years. The $10 off should apply to Gideon Bibles left in the room unless they are sealed in plastic! If they are not new they should be tossed away.

Golly, jorr, how do you feel about library books?

We always stay in Hampton Inns and have never been disappointed.
