Bad experience at a Bed and Breakfast

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Sarah Kendall Inn in Newport Rhode Island. When we arrived we were told we could park in back, which we did. The parking area consisted of 4 parking spots. However they did make mention of the fact that during the peak months, there is no parking on the street unless you have a sticker. They make no mention of parking on the Websitem Check out time was 11:00. The morning of our departure we awoke to painters setting up there ladders and equipment at 8:00am. When we went down to breakfast and discussed it with the Innkeeper his reponse was "well we have been waiting a long time for them to show up". He offered us no type of refund at all. In fact when My boyfriend went to settle our account, he mentioned that perhaps they could take something of off our bill, she replied "no, you are paying for the full two nights" in a very rude manner. We left very discouraged, and disgusted at the behavior of the innkeepers. I think its time they got our of the hospitality business!

I'm sorry. I don't think I understand. What was the problem?

You're upset because they told you about the parking situation?

Or because you were awakened at the crack of 8 AM?

As often happens, I agree with starrs.

I think OP is trolling for a refund.

Undeserved, in my opinion.

11:00AM is widely recognized as checkout time for most places.

If I were trying to sleep in, I wouldn't want a ladder banging outside, so I do get your point.

I did look at the website and it does say Complimentary Off Street Parking(with no mention of only 4 spaces), so I get your point on that too(kinda). So, did you have to pay for parking or what was the actual complaint about? Did they have a spot for you?

spirodog, I can't tell if the complaint is about the painters or the parking.

I'm always suspicious of first-time posters whose subject is a complaint.

Well, it is true your B&B hosts might have forewarned you and also been more pleasant...but hey we all face that when we travel! But it's OK to gripe anyway. (speaking as an oldster to perhaps younger adult)

I am guessing the banging ladders broke her concentration and she or he failed to achieve a ......
