Babymoon in Maui or Kauai?

Babymoon in Maui or Kauai?
My husband and I are planning on taking our babymoon in Hawaii. Considering that I will be 6 months pregnant at the time of our trip, we cannot decide on which island to go to. Between Maui and Kauai, which would island would you recommend?

What kind of response is that? Is it really necessary to be that obnoxious, Gyppielou? You must be seriously bored or lonely or just pathetic overall.
Congratulations on your pregnancy Cingen! I went to Kauai but have not been to Maui, but from what I understand Maui is more commercialized although Kauai had its fair share of stores like Wal-Mart, etc. I loved my stay in Kauai-many hidden beaches, good restaurants, beautiful scenery. Can you go to both?

I understand the definition of a babymoon to mean a vacation one takes while one is pregnant.
I'm not quite sure what that has to do with being a "taker" rather than a "giver." But maybe Gyppie knows the cingen personally?
Geez louise. I didn't realize women shouldn't vacation while pregnant.
However, I've been to Maui and the Big Island. I've not been to Kauai. I think it depends on what you want to do and the time of year you'll be visiting the islands.
We liked the beaches in Maui. We did not like that it was busier than the Big Island. We liked that we had to drive less on Maui, but we missed the diversity of landscape on the Big Island. Are you looking for a relaxing, beach vacation? Or more activities? More restuarants? Outdoor activities?
I felt really good when I was six months pregnant, so the outdoor activities like hiking or kayaking would've been fun for me.

I did a babymoon on the Big Island at about seven months PG.
I'm not clear on what your exact concerns are. Any of the Hawaiian islands are fine for a pregnant woman. It's the U.S.--no sanitation concerns, American medical care if you need it, you can get the same food you get at home. Just be cautious about overdoing it.

I don't follow what being pregnant has to do with choice of islands?
Maui is gorgeous but a bit more developed and commercialized in places (also therefore offers more "to do").
Kauai is laid back with somewhat less tourist infrastructure.
Choice of islands (imho) depends on your general interests not the fact you are expecting.

Hi suze - IMO, I think the OP is just trying to give more facts.
If someone loves Kauai b/c of the long hikes or taking a Napali boat tour or if they love Maui for the night life and hiking (or whatever), these are things the OP probably will not be doing on this vacation.

Jeez, some of these responses are seriously obnoxious.
cingen - either Maui or Kauai would be nice - I would take a look at what activities/attractions each island offers and go from there. Both islands can be as active or relaxing as you would like.
Generally Kauai is more laid back and Maui (as mentioned earlier) is more commercialized.

I can't imagine what difference being pregnant makes in deciding on an island.
