B&B's near Mt. Hood & Crater Lake

I've paid close attention to the recommendations on this forum for B&B's along the coast & in the wine country and will take your advice to heart when we visit Oregon in early September. Any recommendations for B&B's or hotels near Mt. Hood or Crater Lake??

They're not B&B's, but the obvious suggestions would be Timberline Lodge on Hood, and the Lodge at Crater Lake. Shouldn't have any trouble getting reservations at Timberline, but might already be too late for Crater Lake. If so, consider the Prospect Hotel: http://www.prospecthotel.com/. It's 25 miles from the lake, but I think still preferable to Mazama Village Motor Inn, the only other accommodations inside the park.

The Columbia Gorge Hotel is very nice. It is advertised as "Oregon's Finest Country Inn." They do a really nice Farm Country breakfast, check out their website, columbiagorgehoteldotcom. Happy Valentine's Day! ***kim*** ((f)) ((l))

Another endorsement of the Columbia Gorge Hotel. Beautiful grounds, excellent food and a convenient location.

Well the Columbia Gorge Hotel is about 50 miles from the Timberline area of Mt. Hood, so depending on which part of the mountain you are wanting to visit you might want something closer. Government Camp has quite a bit of lodging. We have stayed at the Mt. Hood Inn and it was fine. Not plush, but more like Holiday Inn Express. A good website for the area is www.mthood.info.

Try for Timberline Lodge first though as it is a beautiful, historic building.

Steamboat Inn on Hwy 138 from Roseburg to Crater Lake. Beautiful location on the North Umpqua River, fabulous restaurant for dinner, suites with Japanese style soaking tubs and fireplaces. It is an easy 40 mile drive along the river (mostly) to Crater Lake. In September you will still be able to use the North entrance.

I second Steamboat Inn although I have never stayed there, I have stopped for lunch and walking around the grounds.

Many of my friends have stayed at the Prospect Hotel too and have enjoyed it.
Hopefull I will be staying there next month and can tell you more
