B&B's in New York City

We are looking into B&B rooms in Manhattan - either midtown or the Village. Have been in touch with several booking agents of B&B's and it sounds as tho it might be a good alternative to a hotel room - especially in October which is considered the "high" season and the price of hotel rooms are at their highest. Am wondering what experience you might have had - both good and bad- in booking these B&B rooms. Thanks.

From your post, it sounds like the only reason you are considering B&b's is because of price - is that the case?
Manhattan htel rates have softed a great deal do to the slow down in business travel. There are aslo many new hotels, from budget to 5 star luxury. If you are looking for reasonably pried lodging in Manhattan, this is the yr for that. There are online hotel consolidators, like quickbook or even priceline that can get you great rates on nice hotels.
However, if you are specifically looking for the B& B experience, then that is a different story. If you clarify what your needs are, people can help you better. Many B&B's in Manhattan, The Inn at Irving Place comes to mind, are very nice, but not inexpensive; so if saving money is your goal, B & B's are not the way to go.
