B&B near Glacier Nat'l
 

We're heading out to Glacier in September and are looking for a nice B&B. WE've heard about The Garden Wall in Whitefish and The Keith House in Kalispell. Anyone have any input on them or any other suggestions? We're looking to stay in as nice as a B&B as we can find.

We stayed at the Hidden Moose Lodge in Whitefish and loved it. Our room was really nice and had a balcony and big jacuzzi tub. The breakfast was delicious. And we ate at a wonderful restaurant within walking distance called The Pollo Grill. It was so good we ate there again on our last night. Wish we could have stayed there 2 nights but our itinerary didn't allow it. They have a web page if you do a search for it. Highly recommend it!!!

Should have mentioned that when we were getting our car at the airport I told the lady at the counter where we were staying and she said, "Oh, that is one of the nicest places in town!" Also thought it was a pretty good deal - I think we paid around $90.

We were just in Whitefish a couple of weeks ago and saw both the Garden Wall and the Hidden Moose (we also went in the lobby of the Hidden Moose). The Garden Wall is located right in hte heart of Whitefish within walking distance of downtown. the Hidden Moose is located a few miles out on the road to the Big Mountain. It seemed to be more of a mountain lodge type of atmosphere while the Garden Wall was a 2 story house of possibly early 1900's vintage. I guess it just depends on which location you prefer and what type of atmosphere you are looking for. I would definitely recommend Whitefish over Kalispell (however visit the Conrad Mansion in Kalispell if you have time)because it's smaller and has more of a resort type feeling. we stayed at the North Forty Log Cabins which are just outside Whitefish on the road to Glacier. Also Whitefish seemed a little closer to the West Glacier Park entrance. It's beautiful country with some of the nicest, friendliest people we have ever met (and we are from the south!). I second the recommendation for the Hidden Moose Lodge in Whitefish. Stayed there for 2 nights two years ago and absolutely LOVED it.

Just returned from a trip to Montana and I can't say enough about the Hidden Moose Lodge. I had checked out accomodations on the Whitefish Chambe of Commerce page and it just felt right. The lodge is beautiful--very warm and welcoming. They had fruit waiting for us in our room. Your choice of beer or wine in the early evening or whenever you return from your day's exploration and the breakfast is incredible. They even found me a nice flat foam pillow as I am allergic to feathers or down pillows. We will definitely return.

They are 26 miles from the entrance to the park--the town seems more desirable than Kallispell--JMHO.

So about the Hidden Moose Lodge? Are there restaurants near by, or do you need to drive to them. I don't drink and drive and hate to give up wine with dinner.

Yes, there are restaurants relatively close by. One in particular could be walked to...althought that would not be my personal preference. Many restaurants within 2 miles--easy drive, not a lot of traffic.
