B&B Historic Charleston
 

My sister and I will be visiting Charleston late September and would like to stay in a charming B&B located in the Historic District. Can anyone suggest a place less than $300/nt. It seems most of the ones I'm coming across in that area are $400 and up. We'd prefer to have a room with two beds.
Any help is appreciated. I've been searching for hours and getting a bit weary of this.

You must be having bad luck, or choosing dates that are not good for cheap lodging. Here's my results in a B&B search starting in September 28 & ending on October 2:

If you use this URL and are getting over $300 a night for every place you try, for the dates you are searching for, you might contact one of these places and ask why prices are so much higher for the dates you want. Maybe there's a major festival in Charleston when you want to visit, and you should make some alterations.
What I've done a couple of times under these circumstances is to book a B&B for part of the time I'm there, and also book a chain motel when B&Bs are super-expensive. Not the best solution, but it's one that will work.

Everything on the bedandbreakfast entry you posted is more than double the rate they show. Go to the B&B website they list. Maybe it's the time of year. But whatever it is, I can't seem to find a 3-4star rated hotel for the timeframe we will be there with 2 beds for less than $400-500/nt. We can't change our timeframe, it's the last week in Sep. We want to stay in the historic district. South of Calhoun and East of King St. Anyone know of something I've overlooked.

Scroll to the bottom where the title "Charleston September Events" is in large bold type, then click on each to find out when precisely when they are happening. This might help explain the costs of lodging as some events are very popular and the city will be full of visitors. You might want to consider hotels as well as B&B's as there are more of those in the HD.

If you are willing to stay outside the HD, look at Old Village Post House in Mt. P.

I'm not sure there are rooms with 2 beds. The restaurant is excellent and that part of Mt. Pleasant is lovely.

Having been a sales manager at a top Charleston hotel, I will tell you that Charleston has two "high" seasons.... one runs from late Feb/early Mar until early/mid June and the other from mid Sept until mid Nov. This is because the weather is absolutely fabulous during these times plus theres a whole lot going on in the Lowcountry. Stay at a top rated hotel, you won't be sorry!!!
