i would contact the visitor's bureau of those states. they are online or have 800 numbers. they all have free booklets with calendars and maps. takes about a month to get. in the summer, lots of stuff going on - one is the big inter-tribal indian celebration in gallup nm. last year it was aug. 6-10. every town has some native-american dancing and feast days in the summer.
|
p.s. some of the traditional feast days and dancing in the nm pueblos are not open to visitors, but most are. if you do get to attend, good manners are necessary. no talking or taking pictures.

My husband and I enjoyed a performance in Cortez, Colorado a few years ago by Native American dancers and musicians (flute, drum). I don't remember the venue. It seems it was part of an art center or museaum. It was wonderful. I still have a vision in my mind of a very small Native American girl twirling and dancing with her arms outstretched and a lovely fringed shawl floating. She was beautiful. We were on a trip to Mesa Verde National Park and down onto the Navajo reservation in Arizona to Monument Valley and Canyon De Chelly. It was a great trip.

I forgot to tell you that we have attended several Pow Wow's here in California that include Native American dancing and music.
