Award winning posts, and the envelope please....

....and the award for me goes to CaronlineJ, of the 2 londoners SW report for this wonderful post......

.....despite all the tigers and lions and leopards, I can quite categorically say, the scariest thing I saw was Seigfried and Roy's plastic surgery..... Bejeezus!.........I Imagine the tiger must have needed its stomach pumped after a mouthful of that......

Again , my winning quote goes to CarolineJ, thanks for the laughs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Utahtea's are my favorites--
Have followed the advice and always "right on"

PamSF Nov 15th, 2003 10:59 AM

and to tag along with Caroline J's post..Roy looked grrrrreat!

Barbie2 Nov 15th, 2003 11:32 AM

CarolineJ.-absolutely agree! Bravo!

ronkala Nov 15th, 2003 12:01 PM

Caroline J told a nice story, but for helping posters with down to earth travel facts and tips, the award goes to Utahtea.

Why would someone make a joke of someone's near death experience? There's a difference between humor and a sick comment like that.

That being said, I have read the most hallarious comments on this board and also the best advise available.

As for the original question...
My favorite was the whole Maine Haunted House thread that has since been removed. It was a ghost mystery about Sirius Ackney (???) posted in installments by "Arnie." It was never finished, and later deleted. Perhaps because it wasn't actually travel-related - but it had a HUGE response and posters begging for more!

gyppielou Nov 15th, 2003 07:51 PM

Thanks for bringing us back on track Dreamer!

I knew if anyone responded to my post, someone else would be rightously offended with a tiger actually acting as mother nature intended and reclaiming its alpha position in the universe...sorry I missed your nomination, sounds fun! Love Maine and would have loved hearing the heresay!!!! And yes Utahtea is very hip, just don't have a quote from her! Mahalo G

"Sirius Ackney"???? How could I have missed that ? :))

There have been so many award winning posts, we need catagories!
Tipping the Pilot
Elviras reports
BookChicks Italy reports
Canadas forums - St Cirq exploring Montreal, going where no tourist visits and should.
I really enjoyed CarolineJs report!
Bridget Jones reports
...what others, I cannot think....

A sense of humor is SO important! on these boards and in Life :)

Let us not forget the poster that was writing from work on the day he was supposed to leave for Asia or someplace to say his boss had called that morning and forbade him to go on vacation. He was posting on whether or not he should just quit his job and go on vacation.

There was a poster a couple of years back planning on a fancy wedding in Hawaii. Daddy was paying for everything (and there was a lot of everything), but she wanted the entire wedding party to leave 'her' hotel after the ceremony so she and hubby could have the place to themselves.

I,too, vote for the Syrus Aekney(sp?) Maine haunted house story. The author had many of us going for months and everytime he/she posted a "chapter" of the story people screamed for more.

Ending the whole thing with the author's "death" being related by someone form his/her town was simply the icing on the cake.

Darn, I missed the Sirius Ackney posts. Don't supposed anyone saved them somehow?

One of my favorite posts was from someone who described what had to be the worst airplane flight ever - on an Aeroflot plane where they had to shut off the air and it was so steamy it started "raining" inside the cabin and then some local went nuts and charged the cabin. It was so funny I cut and pasted it and sent it to friends. I tried to find it recently but couldn't.

I also liked Mai Tai Tom's trip report.

There was a small post long time ago - somebody asked if a visit to the Hoover Damn worth it. If there is an award for the damnest misspelling, this person deserves it.

kikahead Nov 17th, 2003 03:52 PM

Agree 100% with Kath--the psycho plane flight was SOOOO funny! Also I LOVED the "how to cut soap" thread! And the Taking the Bus parts 1 and 2.

Alisa Nov 17th, 2003 04:18 PM

I would give the award to the old "Mole People" thread. That was hilarious!

questionmotives Nov 17th, 2003 04:26 PM

Hmmmmm......exactly what kind of awards are we bestowing here? If it's for the most tenacious and transparent use of the greatest number of multiple aliases, well then, I think we all know who that winner is!

If it's for most consistently promoting the worst third rate city in the U.S., again, we know the answer.

If it's for most personal attacks on anyone who disagrees, I'm afraid the same person is again the hands down winner.

You know who I'm talkin' bout.......say it with me......San Jose Weirdo!!!!!!

rb_travelerxATyahoo Nov 17th, 2003 04:44 PM

Was it NIGHTMARE? AT TAVERN ON THE GREEN? that lasted so long? Not sure if "nightmare" was the right word. The toilet thread was good (and clean, actually) too.

wow Nov 17th, 2003 06:51 PM

Thanks to GoTravel I remembered this one: The big scary drooling dog post! Some people saw the thing drooling, some didn't. Although short lived, it was pretty funny. Definitely an award winner!

wow Nov 17th, 2003 06:53 PM

It is called "Stop the Moving ads. They make me dizzy". Saw it tonight.
